Ruby Beach at sunset... Wow!

This is Ruby Beach at sunset, taken on November 23, 2008. Ruby Beach is about 2 hours away from Sequim, so it's an easy daytrip getaway, to an absolutely fabulous beach.

It's located off of Hwy 101, about 30 miles south of Forks and the Hoh Rainforest trails. There's a parking area with restrooms, and it's a short walk downhill to the beach.

Nearby is Kalaloch Lodge (pronounced Klalock, long 'a'), which has rooms and small cabins available for rent, and a restaurant with bar. The food is good and the views are fab. There's also a campground, for those who prefer to rough it.

This is one of my favorite places... and we've stayed in the cabins at Kalaloch Lodge, and they're clean and cozy, but no TV, so bring a good book, or a portable DVD player. They do allow pets. It's a great weekend getaway, and can you ever have a bad day when you're at the beach? I say no.

Real estate update for Sequim - November 2008

The market in Sequim has been slow, like most places in the country, and if you're looking to buy, now's actually a great time. There are over 440 'active' listings in Sequim, with a price range from $99,000 for a 1 bed/1 bath condo, to luxury waterfront and waterview estate properties priced over $1 million and more.

Sales prices and the number of sales are down from 2007 levels. Year to date in 2008, we've seen an overall decline of 12% on average sales price, and an 8% decline on median price. And volume is off by about 20%.

There are a lot of homes to choose from, making it a great time to buy. To search Sequim real estate listings, go to my Windermere website and search listings through the MLS.

I have a couple of nice listings I'd also like to tell you about: First is a 3 bed/2 bath manufactured home on .88 ac with Olympic mountain views and newly remodeled and redesigned kitchen for only $199,900.

The other one is a 3 bed/1 bath home on 1.26 acres also with Olympic mountain views with a newly remodeled bath for only $214,900.

Or if you're looking for a nice lot to build on, I have 2.74 acres on Cays Road listed for $132,500.
